Koko goes to Bali, yippieeee!
Long time ago, I think I translated bits and pieces about Koko's travel to Morocco, France-NY-LA trip or his lone bike-ride to Japan's secluded mountains. But I don't know where I placed them ;___; Anyway, so he did all this when Tak stayed home, eating sugoku umai yakitori at his home's Japanese garden or travel in luxurious car with Takuro of GLAY to Elvis' home. Anyway two, I find that Koshi's travel stories are much more fun to read than Tak's (sorry, Tak!) because he has keen eyes and memories and is great at recounting details. I hope Bewith will have more of this in the future!

Koshi's BALI adventure

Q What did you do in Bali?
K ...Eto ne, first I went to Mount Ubud. And then... I did nothing else.
Q (laugh) So relaxed...
K Un. I did nothing because I was in the mountain area and it was raining the whole time.
Q How about other tourist attractions?
K Nope, didn't go to those either. Read some books, went to the pool, swam some... That's all.
Q I heard the sceneries are like Japan's rural area?
K Sou da ne. They have fields too but mainly rice fields. I heard it's called rice-terrace. In short, it was mechakucha (= very) countryside. But in the middle of all these, they built a big hotel. It was such an established hotel yet so few customers. It was great. In Bali, if you go to destinations which are within immediate range to the airport, like Kuta (beach) or Legian (beach) or something, there are always soooo many tourists packing those places. It has become a sea-resort centre, maybe like "Bali Ginza" or something... Anyway, where I stayed there were so few people, it was quiet and nice. During the nights, on top of the gigantic pool, they had set up a bamboo stage where gamelan music was played all night long. But either than that instrument and the sound of frogs, you could hear nothing else.
Q Very comfortable surroundings.
K Ii desu yo~. Afterwards I also went to the beach, but again, I did nothing... Aaa! I rode on body-board!
Q You wrote that on the Q&A corner ne.
K Sou. I did that in Bali. Sugoku omoshirokatta. Riding on the waves and guwaaaa it brought me back to the shore.
Q Was it good weather?
K Anone, it was almost always very clear in the beach, but for sure, in the mountain area, the weather changed so easily and it rained very often.
Q Did you eat nasi goreng ?
K I most certainly did!!
Q Yappari (laugh)... I heard it's oishii.
K Oishii. I think it's a taste that Japanese people like anyway, no?
Q Do they put eggs too?
K Yep. Nasi goreng and also soto ayam... like a chicken soup with noodle. That's also oishii yo~~~. But maybe I like nasi goreng more... maybe. Ato, nandake naaa... Aaaa, mie goreng!!! Mie goreng is actually yakisoba. But anyway, whatever I ate was oishii. Basically everything, really.
Q Did you buy souvenirs?
K Eeeetoo... A statue made out of turtle's shell.
Q Is that a type of local handicraft?
K Nanka... there was a place where they sell just this type of handicrafts and then there's another place where all they sell is paintings of the town and stuffs. The statues were sooo cheap. Two for Rp 10,000 (rupiah). Although they told me Rp 50,000 in the beginning...
Q (laugh) Did you bargain?
K Well, if you call that bargain... I said, 'I only have Rp 10,000'. And afterwards, it's amazing how the price quickly dropped to Rp 10,000 (laugh)... How do these people set the price? Anyway, the seller said very reluctantly "Jyaa, ii ya" (laugh)...
Q So did you buy a guide book first and read it to compare things before you went there?
K I went to Bali once long time ago. At that time, I bought a guide book and I read through it quite carefully then... But basically, I didn't go around that much anway. So in the end, carrying the book around was useless to me. I did the body-board but it was right in front of the hotel by the beach.
Q Do you have real surfing experience?
K Fufufu... (laugh) I did that once. I also did wind-surfing.
Q Could this be before B'z debut?
K Looong before we debut.
Q So you actually like marine-boards?
K Zenzen. I only did them when I went to the beach sometimes. After debut, we would go to Okinawa for campaign, even then I didn't go for it.
Q Have you done body-board before this?
K Nope. There was no one else doing this but me in that place. Maybe there were about 2-3 groups of people, but they were all sun-bathing.
Q No one else but you. What made Inaba-san go for it then?
K They have a board just sitting there. The hotel staff said to me, 'Why don't you do it?' so I did.
Q When you go on private trips, do you think of good lyrics or melodies when you look at beautiful sceneries? Or are you the type who can completely forget about work when on holiday?
K Uuun... I did write some stuffs but I didn't purposefully think of it. Ato wa... when I got back, because I had free time, I wrote some things too. Maybe I'm both type... Un, yea I guess I would think of things and note them down.

Some Indonesian words/tiny bit of helpful notes =p
Mount Ubud, Kuta Beach, Legian Beach = tourist attraction places
Nasi goreng = Indonesian fried rice, but it's so famous that people say Nasi Goreng, like they'd say Sushi instead of Japanese rice-roll.
Mie goreng = fried noodle or yep, yakisoba
Soto ayam = clear chicken soup with lots of yummy goodies, sometimes with noodles/clear noodles or rice. It can come as soto sapi (beef), soto kambing (mutton) and so on.
Gamelan = a traditional Indonesian musical instrument made out of bamboos.
Rupiah = Indonesian currency; US$1.00 = Rp 9,400, AU$1.00 = Rp 6,500

OK, so the Bali trip wasn't as exciting as the Morocco one. At least he liked the food. YAY for YUMMY INDONESIAN FOOD! That one point, I can guarantee! Waaaaah, now I miss Indonesia a little bit!

Btw, this is totally random, but I just remembered reading a bewith when Tak just got two dogs (maybe around LOOSE era) and he kept saying how he loved playing with 'Kou-chan' (the dog's name is Kousuke! If I remember correctly =p) and the most wonderful thing in his life at that moment was 'Kou-chan' =p

OOooh, to celebrate TMG1's album coming out TOMORROWWWWW (actually tonight in Japan), here's some silly extra =p (I know ktulu wouldn't mind <3). Anyway, I hope today's entry will make M-chan (and everyone else reading) less stressed!! Think about holiday my friends!!!! Or if you can't have holiday soon, then the money from the hours slaving away!!!! Or things you can buy with the money like TMG1 !!!

So, Bali looks like Japan's rural areas? Like where I live!!! But I still want to get there eventually! I've never read the story of his France-NY-LA trip. Hunt around for that one, OK? TMG1 will be out tonight. Can't wait to hear Matsumoto-san....Well, thanks, as always, for translating, Keenie.

Yeah, Koshi has a good memory and an eye for detail. Although, Tak put quite a lot of detail in his Tennessee trip. Especially about his meals and complaints about the temperature.

Thanks for translating, Keen! That sounds like a relaxing vacation for sure! Island paradise!
Of course, I don't believe he was really in Bali alone, do you? Ahem.

Well, sounds like he had an excellent time.
His bargaining skills don't sound that aggressive though lol.

"I only have Rp10,000" + innocent Ko-chan look = rapid reduction in price.

Now I want to eat nasi goreng served in a pineapple.
(PS I have your Morocco translation; I guess I better be putting it up!)

Of course, I don't believe he was really in Bali alone, do you? Ahem.

Oh yea, just like any common Japanese conversation, he didn't use "I" or "me" or "we" or "us", so I assumed it's just him. Or I wanted to.

I wonder how Tak's bargaining sounds like =p

Seller: Two for Rp 10,000
Tak: WHAT!!! Too expensive!
Seller: Two for Rp 8,000?
Tak: I'd go lower if I were you
Seller: *sweats* Rp 5,000?
Tak: How low can you go, how low can you go...
Seller: *packs up all remaining statues and calls it a day*
Tak: HEIIIII!!!!

Hehe maybe Mai will spin this into a comic some day.

so I assumed it's just him. Or I wanted to.
Mwahaha. Well, Koshi is kind. According to his drawings, only Bub shares his bed. :P
