have you considered stealing one? if you get away with it, it'll be free. if you don't have the spare pocket change to buy one, i think that's the best route. let's get together and make a plan to snatch a couple when Tak comes to town.

If anyone cares, Tak's custom LP is now a production model to the tune of 4K CDN. The previous was a limited production run (6K).

The realist tells me that I'd be paying for the name. That I should get a PRS singlecut or a Gibson Class 5 LP instead The fan in me says that the name decal beside the neck-body joint is totally worth the 4K.

Damn you Tak. Most of us do not have 31 consecutive #1 singles to generate that kind of wad. Stop the deprivation. It's not enough that I'm a ramen diet. He wants me to live on water and lettuce.

Keen-san: Thank you ever so much for the translation! You are speedy! I feel the same way about Goodbye Holy Days as I did when I first heard Gekkou. Melancholy, but somehow soothing...... I have an idea for the lyrics book, but I don't know if it will work. Instead of putting the translation after the romanized lyrics, could you put it alongside? Muri? Anyway...thank you again for all your hard work. Gokurosan!!!

2 winners?? 3 winners?? ;_: Heii I want a big box of B'z stuffs ~ doesn't everyone? ^^

Oh Keen-chan, those lyrics are classic Koshi! I think our theory of Kokobaka has got to be right!

...I...I...only have Hana. *is ashamed* But I sure love Go Further and Zero Yori Zero Kara, so I was thinking of getting Knockin next. For some reason, I think it's really funny when Tak sings, so I always have a smile on my face haha.
(tamashii, it was a complete surprise to me, thank you SO much! :))

but how can I forget there's Go Further in Knockin'!

K-3, I uploaded Goodbye Holy Days into the lyrics book. Actually there're things I'm not so sure about. Yuzurenai hito, I translated into a person I can't leave. Hope that's ok. Iro iro ne... if anyone see mistakes, please point them out to me, yoroshiku!
This song is so relaxing even though a bit sad, like those last days of summer. Tak's solo is beautiful and lonely. And boy, do I love the lyrics! <3 <3 <3

Embracing the illusion all to myself
Love is within these arms
Lukewarm wind that blows through the curtain
It wakes me up

In the summer days, dream is disappearing
Just like the waves, silently go away

Cause I have someone whom I can't leave (?)
Good-bye Holy Days
I'm so glad I met you

M, he's again talking about someone he won't ever forget! Looks like our wisdom/philosophy on Koshi is right =p

tamashii-chan, I luuurve Tak's Wanna Go Home. Some absolute gems here! I'm not kidding when I said I love every single note in #1090-Thousand Dreams (original vers). Of coz there's Wanna Go Home (very soulful and pretty), 99, Love Ya, 88 Love Story and Jammin' of the Guitar (in which Kosh voice-guest). Hmm, I do like Knockin' too, but honestly I'm not too fond of Tak's singing (GOMEN!!!), but Nothin' But The Blues is very nice and relaxing and there's some guitar extravaganza in HEAVEN (cool as hell). Other songs are nice too, melody-wise Tak won't disappoint.
If this helps confirming my love to Tak, he looks absolutely gorgeous in the album booklet hehehe.

Oh, so that's what the present is. Yeah, B'z photo album would be cool ne. Live pics from 1988 - 2003.

Hi Kanako,
Well, over 3 years ago I heard the song Konya tsuki no mieru okani and basically I've never looked back since then. I bought first one album, and it was so good, I bought another, and that was so good. And another and another, then videos, etc. Somewhere along there, I discovered how much I liked Tak and Koshi, in addition to their music. Like everyone else, there's not enough space for me to list my favorite songs! :)

tamashii, I agree with you, I think Tak has been looking younger and even more kakkoii lately. When did this begin? XD And Koshi's hair is cute now. Kind of a bit like Shian/Gold MS performance. The video I saw was kind of fuzzy though, so I couldn't really tell the color. (PS: Big hugs to tamashii-chan for making my day yesterday! XD)

The B'z! :P Actually copy control is a pain when it comes to playing cds in your pc and stuff, so I guess B'z are saving us some trouble.

I don't really understand what you get with the first press, some postcards (hagaki?). Anyway really wanna see the cover of Big Machine, hurry hurry hurry.

indeed! Kanako-san, i can't write all the b'z/tak/178 songs i like, too many great songs!! there're a few i don't like but these few can't even take up all my 10 fingers ^0^ i think most of us are truly attracted by b'z music, instead of their appearance... love at 1st listen ne ^^ kimura brought me to b'z ^^v i watched his dorama "beautiful life"... not knowing how b'z look like or how big the 2-letter name is in the japan music industry ^^; then i caught b'z on music station performing "ring".... then more research on this duo... then more money spent on albums... then off i flew to hong kong for their live-gym... then i'm madly in love with them... then i can't think rationally on occasions... then out of control... save me!?... this is tamashii no war ^_^

yeah, i watched the yasei ms too ^^v keen-chan, 178's shirt is really tight ne! makes his arms looked so muscular :p~~~ & his torso!! *drooling non-stop* i saw him coughing too! but his voice is still as great! 178 looks fresher with shorter hair... tak must have done something to himself, he's becoming more & more kakkoiiiiii... & i enjoyed looking at masuda-san! the way he moves is so kawaii ^^; (although he's doing the same in his other b'z live performances :p )

here's some old news but an article i've never read b4... it's from billboard, about b'z amazing occupying-11-of-the-12-spots-on-oricon unbreakable record:
THE B'Z KN'ZS: The Beatles may have owned the entire top five on the Hot 100 in April 1964, but that's nothing compared with the domination of this week's Japanese singles chart by the B'z. The duo, made up of Tak Matsumoto and Koshi Inaba, have locked up 11 of the top 12 positions. "It's Showtime" (Vermillion) debuts at No. 1. Except for a single by Smap at No. 2, the next 10 songs are all by the B'z.
(well, again, they wrote "THE B'Z" >_< )

p.s. keen-chan! i like the shots u took for your pic of the week <3

my favorite songs are so many! But I like especially, SHINE,FOREVER MIND,GEKKOU (moonlight), SAMAYOERUAOIDANGAN (blue bullet?), SAYONARANANKAWAIWASENAI (dont let you say goodbye?) NEGAI, juice, GIRIGIRICHOP, TAIYOUNOKOMACHIANGEL...... ummmm, though "especially", I cant write all in a small space! I need much much much bigger space ^v^!
And Taks guitar solo"HANA"in GREEN live moved me!
His guitar in person(?live?what do you call"nama"in English?)is very cool!I love both very much!

I watched the MS of Yasei. Holy goodness, such tight shirt is long time no see! (*__*) Koshi's hair is lighter both in body and color. Tak's hair is a lot straighter o.0 the mic stand is now blue, so is Shane's hair. As for the performance, even though I saw Koshi coughing during Tak's solo, the vocal was fine throughout. B'z live is saikou!!!

I changed pic of the week into some suitable for the mood of Livegym Banzai =p
http://keen_on_all.tripod.com/picoftheweek.htm
You lucky livegym go-ers, check 'em out!

Btw, I've added this to HOME lyrics' translation: The meaning of the word 'HOME' in this song is not 'a place to settle down' but more like 'something that exist within oneself and if you have it then you'll be fine'... or 'something that is unchanged, unshakeable' (quote Koshi Inaba, Bewith Vol.38)
Does 'HOME' now make more sense? ^_^;;

Dragonkiri, happy birthday! You've got a real friend there to give you such wonderful gift. How nice of her/him! You guys will all have a ball!

Kanako, I first heard B'z when I watched Japanese dorama "Garasu No Kamen". The dorama wasn't very good (I like the manga better) but oh boy! "Calling" the song! I searched for some more B'z songs and fell in love! I didn't even know what they looked like until a few months later. B'z fulfills my needs in music, great guitar, great vocal, great lyrics and great lives. And after reading Bewith magazines' interviews, I think they are really great people too!

If life is unpredictable, let me hope for going to any B'z lives soon in the future. Taaaak, please! lol

Er, I think the fans who attend hall-concerts for Final Pleasure will also attend dome-concerts coz the later ones will be songs from "Big Machine". Waaa, good strategy, Tak bozz!

You're very welcome, K-3. You know, according to that MF mag, the number of B'z freaks in Japan now is about 1,000,000 ppl. And 600,000 or more of them are in the Fan Club. Sugoii ne, B'z.

I'd like to make the Seattle concert too. However, taking into account the border crossing, which is tight these days, the trip may take 6 hours. The return trip will be 3 hours. By the time I get home, it'll be 2 or 3 AM!!! I don't know if I can handle that much driving or sitting around to cross the border. -_-

Oh well, I'm glad for the one concert I'm seeing. ^^

I wonder what kind of reaction I'll get out of Tak with my poster. ^^;

Oh, are we supposed to announce that we got our tickets? I bought mine about 2 weeks ago. And I got them in the mail yesterday...which is at least one big relief.

51 takes for that Giri Giri...heii. B'z are perfectionists, what can I say? I must go read the Yasei lyrics again.

The BeeZee...that's what Ian Thorpe called them too right? I'm not sure whether I hear the "neo-punk beat with a dance feel" that he described for Yasei" but I'm glad he listened to it. And I'm glad someone huggable sent me that vid. XD

PS Mrs Teng: Teresa was a staple of my childhood lol. I've got some random stuff lying around. Imagine Teresa singing Flashdance stuff.

Adam, wow, THANKS SO MUCH. You don't know how much doubt I usually have when I'm translating Koshi's lyrics. When I'm not struggling with the biggest problem which is understanding it correctly (lol), I'd be trying my best to stay true to the Japanese but sometimes it means sacrificing the hidden meaning. Above all, I looooove discussing Koshi's lyrics. But please, you MUST stick around and do this with us! I've quickly made corrections to Yasei lyrics =p I also see that lightning as Tak. The video should give us enough hint if nothing at all.
Anyway, the one that truly fascinates me is Jap The Ripper. Now that is great theme.

Bluesy morning, possible! But wouldn't that be buruushi asa then? I think Arakure means more like going crazy or something like that, no?

Btw, someone very niceeee sent me a copy Music Freak mag that writes about Yasei~ (B'z is so stingy with interview these days? They won't even do one with MF? =p). The writer said, B'z fans never have to worry about quality. Yasei~ sounds like a simple-rock-sound, but in reality, JUST for the guitar-work, they had 15 takes.
This reminds me of Tak and Koshi talking about how did Giri Giri Chop vers.51 got its name. They said well, becoz the one used for Brotherhood album really is take no.51! I remember poor Tak going *ouch* and having to re-do Girigiri many many times in True Meaning~ video. Not to mention Koshi's singing the chorus part, even the laugh was hard!

Wow Adam, you really did your homework..not only that you already graduated with a PhD from B'z daigaku ^-^.
Thank for explaining all the details and backrounds of the lyrics, I guess most B'z songs with this type of more complicated lyrics could be analyzed to pieces (which seems to be worth doing).

M~ I am surprised Teresa Teng is so famous. I just picked that CD up as a joke lol, but now I really love one of the songs. I am unable of course to read the name or even remotely reproduce any lyrics from the song..

Hi Adam. I really enjoyed reading your analysis of Koshi's Yasei lyrics. I didn't know the story about the bird! That's such a wonderful thing to incorporate.
Please share more of your insight about Koshi's lyrics!

Hye-kyung ~ this whole B'z borrows from others ~ hm. Well, I prefer B'z and as KIMCHI man says, that's really good enough for me. I don't want to say any more because someone once got really angry at me when I said it didn't really matter to me. :P

Mrs. Teng ~ ROFL. Sexy! I also have a Teresa Teng cd. Which reminds me that the beginning of Tak's Hana is so totally from that Teresa Teng song, right Keen-chan?! Maybe Tak is a fan too.

Hey Keen, thanks again for your great work on the site, it keeps getting better and better! Just thought I'd stop by and letcha know what I felt after reading your translation of Yasei no NRG. I don't mean to burst your bubble or anything like that, I just figured it would be nice for everyone to comment on what they think the meaning of this sometimes difficult to comprehend song is.

I'd have put "kiseki ga okoru" as "A miracle will/would occur/take place", "muchuu ni nareru mono wo mitsuketemo" as "even if I have found my calling/something to go crazy over" (this seems like a pretty tough line to translate... I kinda see it as Inaba-sensei finding his calling in becoming a teacher, but then being "tatakinomesareta" and then taking a different path in life, maybe he's refferring to the hard time his "me ue no hito/sensei-tachi" treated him as a subordinate, not sure...

Also, a big point I wanna make is that we have to consider the mix of present and future tense Inaba is using in these lyrics. As you'll often find in Japanese Lit., future tense can sometimes stylistically be used when telling a story that occurred in the past or foreshadowing the future. For example, "aruku no wo yameru" could be though of as after Inaba encountered difficulties in teaching (e.g. SURVIVE's 1st track "DEEP KISS"'s "kami wo... aitsu maru de doko no sensei!!?" ), he felt like giving up and lost hope. Maybe I see it as "I would give up walking (trying) altogether"...

Also, just in case some of you guys didn't catch it, the "seven colored light" is a rainbow, and the "aoi tori" goes back to an old French fairy tale in which the bird was seen as a sign of happiness/good fortune. I love this line because as the fairy tale goes as well, even though he's been searching for these things, ironically in this "shizuka na sekai" the bird was there alongside him all this time (thinking to himself "where did that blue bird fly from?").

Next, just a guess, but I would maybe rethink "already I'm out on the street There's nobody looking at me I also forget to look at other people" to instead a case where Inaba realized to be sought after by someone in life (lover or friend), maybe even like his "Koi-gokoro" or Matsumoto, you gotta keep your eye out for them too. Without a doubt I see that "seiten no inazuma" as Macchan. Lastly, maybe this is being too picky, but I like "garakuta ni umaru doa" as "buried in junk".

Anyway, I hope I helped in someway with my "chippoke na" suggestions and look forward to see what everyone has to say.

BTW, did anyone ever think BIG MACHINE's "buruujii na asa" is "Bluesy na asa" instead of "Broody"? Also, it seems "ARAKURE" will be a slightly fast paced number from what I read over at HMV, can't wait!

Oh yeah!! If you guys can't wait any longer for a great track to listen to before the summer slips away, the full CD quality version of "Wake Up, Right Now" is being sent around WINMX as we speak.

Take it easy,
-Adam
