It's Obon (the time for welcoming home the spirits of one's ancestors) here in Japan & I've got a week off! While I've been preparing my home for this, I've had a lot of time to think about past concerts all day. Do you all remember the part in last year's concert when Inaba-san pulls the cord during "Atsuki kodo..." and reveals 50 or more fans? Well, if you look carefully you'll see a member of B'z staff. At the Nagoya live, he might have been nearby, but when Inaba-san pulled the cord, one very enthusiastic fan (girl) was waiting & touched him quite a few times! He gave her quite a look!
2 years ago on my way home from the live, I ran into a student of mine who worked part-time in Nagoya. She came flying over to me & told me that Inaba-san was staying at the hotel she worked at and after the live had gone to the restaurant where she worked! I asked if he were indeed as handsome as his photos and she answered, "YES!!"
Benny:I'm so happy that you'll be able to go!! I kept hoping things would work out!!
B-2:Thanks. I was just listening to Friends 2 tonight. It's one of my favorites too. And Matsumoto-san IS a great guitarist, whether he plays on an acoustic or electric!!! He gives his all! SEEING IS BELIEVING!!!!!

it's always so nice to visit the board and be welcomed rampant fangrilling! K-3 I'm glad you've made yourself known to us, as you've got a lot of great things to say. I hope you'll be here for a while!
ok, so Brotherhood is the subject for the day...this is of course my favorite album (next to Friends 2), and Dave shall do it justice. I remember being quite disappointed by the review on B'z Fanatics. as I've said before, it is THE album for us Tak fans. he lets it rip on every song. and so does Koshi! well no wonder it's my favorite.
then there's the dvd...the first B'z dvd I watched. even my mom sat down to watch it! and she had no shame in admitting what kept her there (yes, she liked the music too). how about that intro to Bad Comm! you hear "well, I really don't know how to say it..." and the crowd goes nuts. what it would have been like to be there...holy heii. that moment and Samayoeru performance are definitely high points for me in that concert, but really, how can I pick favorite parts in such a flawless and amazing concert???
Mrs. Tangy, would that have been GWAR you sent the postcard in for?

K-3 no I live in Germany. I have only seen last year's live in Saitama. I don't think that I can make B'z live an annual event. Going to Japan is just too expensive !! Esp. for people who actually can not afford it at all, like me lol. So I enjoy the fun as long as it lasts ^-^ a trip to Nippon easily is worth 2-3 smaller trips and next summer I wanna go somewhere with my son and also explore other areas of the world. But who knows..hehe, I might be lured back into livegym again !

I made a mistake when I wrote last night (probably tired!) It wasn't the Juice concert that I also got to see at the small venue, but Eleven. But it really doesn't matter as all concerts are so great! I only wish I could have gone to some earlier lives...Run, Buzz, etc. My boys were too little then.... Survive was the first chance I could have had, but it was too late to get tickets. Then I couldn't get them for Brotherhood because the phone lines were so crowded. The same thing happened with Juice. But my hubby happened to see a sign in a shop window that said they had a few tickets for Juice. He called me and I nearly deafened the poor guy when I heard that he had found some tickets!! That was my first concert. I got those tickets only a few weeks before the live. I also thought I'd never see them. That's when I decided to join the club because it was the ONLY way to be assured of getting tickets.
Mrs.Teng, what other lives have you seen? Do you live in Japan?
M: Meet & Greet!!! There would be no way! I'd be swallowing so hard, no words would come out of my mouth! lol But I love that scene when the guy asks if he can touch their muscles! I almost fell off the chair! HA!
Last year when Matsumoto-san did his solo & spoke to the audience, he REALLY sounded appreciative of the fans' support. I'm sure he says the same words at every concert, but his sincerity shone through.

lol K-3 congrats on being so lucky !!
I once won something like this and I also had to send in a postcard. I did not send it off for days and when I finally had it in my bag to go to the postbox on my way home, I even lost the card riding my bike. It was raining and I thought "oh well" and wanted to go home. But I went back and picked the darn card up and stuffed it in the mailbox..and it won lol. Well this was not B'z but some smaller band but still proved to me that anybody can be lucky ^-^
I am also hoping for "Calling" during the live, even though the japanese fans did not seem to enjoy it that much, I totally flipped out when the song started.
The chorus in beginning and end is so powerful, it makes you wanna ToT, I felt my complete insane amount of crazy B'z fandom acucumulate at this very moment ^-^ , I can't clearly remember if I screamed just "Kohshi!!" o "Inaba san!!" or even "Mat-chan!!" I just remember my friend patting me on the shoulder asking "daijoubu??"

Yokohama: I love EVERYTHING. Every song, every motion, every moment. I watch Nagai Ai a lot, but I must admit that Love Phantom and Calling are 2 of the tracks I watch the most. Dynamic performances and I thought Koshi sounded great in every song.
K-3, winning that lottery prize must have been thrilling! You must have good B'z luck. So, maybe Meet and Greet in Nagoya this year...? :D I think it's hilarious Koshi said, "wakata." Maybe he wanted to let her know so that she could take a break and breathe lol. Actually doesn't Koshi usually put those things in his ears though? But yes, he's really nice to fans and so is Tak.

i love the performances of yokohama too! 178 slammin' the mic stand in 'nagai ai', caressing it in 'skin', the electrified legs in 'f.e.a.r.', the romantic 'one', & so much more!
arigatou dave & M-chan for the reviews! love reading them coz i myself can't do one ;p waiting for more ^^

Nagai Ai & SKIN are my two absolute favorites from Yokohama live! Ultimate Koshi's vocal strecth-out. He really sang them well. I might not know about guitars but I'm quite sure which songs he performed well or not. Can't say the same about Calling or Love Phantom =p but I adore everything from Samayoeru~. WILD n ROCK.
You're so lucky winning the small venue ticket. Wow, Koshi's sudden "Wakata!" to that girl's screaming makes me shudder, lol. I don't know why. It sounded so authorative yet so yasashiii, as if he's saying I understand what you're going through, LOL... Now I'm definitely incoherent.

M: I never felt you were incoherent. Nor anyone for that matter. Sometimes I've felt lost when a lot of computer lingo was used. I'm completely illiterate!! Anyone who can put together sites like these gets an A+ in my book!
As for the Brotherhood video: I've watched "Nagai Ai" & "Skin" so many times, I'm wearing out the tape! Those are my favorite songs on the album. Inaba-san goes crazy on those, like he does when he sings "Don't Leave Me" on the BUZZ video. My favorite B'z has got to be their rock/jazz combinations. They totally bring out the best in Matsumoto-san's guitar and Inaba-san's voice. You're right, Keen-chan, "SIGH, I LOVE B'Z" TOO!!!!!!!
As for how many concerts I've been to:This is my 4th year to finally be able to see them. But the 2nd year (the Juice concert) I sent in the postcard that came with Be-With. It was a drawing and if we were lucky we would be able to see them at another venue, not Nagoya Dome. I sent it in on a whim - thinking I would never get a ticket. Each member could get only one. I almost fainted the day it arrived! I thought "NO" I must be reading this wrong....But when hubby came home, he said "you got one"!! No other foreigners were there but I didn't care! Only 1500 people in the hall. Reminded me of the concert at the end of Brotherhood in Kyoto. Small venue. That was the best! One girl kept screaming "Inaba-san" for the first hour. And he finally said, "WAKATA!"(I understand!) But the best part of that concert was when they did "Calling". I really wanted to hear it, and silently said to myself, "Thank you"!!!

guys better gear up on Brotherhood songs. Dave is working on a review of that nut-case album. I'm looking forward to it.
Since I've been house-bound these days, I was able to watch some videos again =p Of course I started from BUZZ. I wanna see what's Tak's pyscho solo in Jap The Ripper is like, lol. Anyway, I really like BUZZ for the 'we're having so much fun' atmosphere. It's more than Yokohama's serious atmosphere. But of course that one is a killer live too.
K-3, I'm just wondering how many livegyms have you been to? Do you prefer small or big venues? But each probably has its advantages. Small venue is intimate while big venue is B'z in full-glory, matsuri-like party.
Yeah, it must be wonderful to get Be-withs every 3 months or so. Tamashii has shared some of the latest be-with scans with us. My my my, if they don't look better and better! Is it something you eat, Tak?!
Koshi's MC touched my heart. Imagine you're drenched wet under thunderstorm. He's also the same, yet he kept going, "Daijobu yo, daijobu!" Anything you say, 178-3!

K-3! You read my reviews! :) Thanks so much!! You've been following this board for a year?! Uh oh...you've probably seen some of my more incoherent posts in the past then. :P Anyway, it's great to have you join us!
And thanks for sharing that lovely LiveGym memory.
Keen, I think Tak's childhood memory is so funny. I see little Tak getting lost at the zoo, and "Will the parents of Takahiro Matsumoto please come to the front office" being broadcasted lol. And gee, no wonder Yoko said Tak was sugoi yasashii! That part about the thorns: wow, I am impressed!
I've always loved the lyrics of Brotherhood. Koshi is so encouraging. I'll have to watch that scene again! And as K-3 said, B'z smiles are always very real. They look so happy.
Anyway, thanks Keen!

I also love that scene from the Brotherhood tour when Inaba-san is talking about the stars. His smile is so natural - someone really enjoying what he's doing and appreciative of his audience. Thanks for sharing parts of "12" with us, Keen-chan.
Angel1: I went to my first 2 B'z concerts with my son. I'll never forget how he smiled at me when Inaba-san was singing the last line of Home... "Bokutachi no home" I was singing along, and without thinking raised my arms way up high!! No one else did it. It was just my feelings at that moment coming out so naturally. My son turned to me and grinned from ear to ear! He was happy I was enjoying the concert too! Unfortunately, he's bogged down with school and hasn't been able to go to any more........

poor Bub being locked in the dark booth all alone, kawaiso. I bet Koshi gave him yummies for a job-well-done. He really sounded sad.
Is it possible to love both B'z members even more? I think it is...
Fun-bits of the day (taken from TWELVE)
Your oldest memory of childhood?
Tak: Being a lost child in the zoo. They had to announce my name and such.
Koshi: My family runs a cosmetic store. I remember ppl putting make-up on me when we were playing one time.
After finishing PV shoot for The Wild Wind in HK, Tak-sugoi-yasashii-Matsumoto, bought roses for all the exhausted female staffs. Not only that, he specially ordered for the thorns to be taken off! Waaa *__* I don't mind flowers from Tak, even with thorns!!
Koshi's quote of the day
In the vocalist world... I'm still a child (1997)
Koshi's MC in Livegym Pleasure 2000 - JUICE
(I think this is the one Takuro and co. went to, M!)
In the middle of thunderstorm...
"Taishita koto nee yo..." (=it's no big deal)
Still raining cats and dogs...
"Daijoubu. To not waste time, I'll have silly conversations with everyone. I'd even go outside the boundary of usual limitation. Daijoubu da yo."
Ending
"In this Chiba Marine Stadium, we were severely done for. But even then, we still love Chiba Marine... It's not a lie!"
Remember before singing Brotherhood in Yokohama? Koshi pointed to the stars and said, "The stars come out to watch!" Audience clapped, "To watch this song that is written for everyone and us."
Sigh, I love B'z!

I still don't know 100% sure about my livegym event, I shall write a mail right away to my B'z agent...

Although I have only recently begun to contribute to the site, I have been reading a lot of the mails for a year now. I'm just a little shy to jump in!
I was also happy to hear that other blondes go to the concerts! I usually keep my concert partner in stitches with my constant searching for other foreigners while we wait for the concert to begin!! So far I've never found one!!
As far as B'z Party is concerned, I hope they'll open it up to include the fans living outside of Japan. After all they're giving concerts in LA,SF, etc. so it makes sense to keep those fans up to date on all the latest news.
And YES! I'm going to the Nagoya concert in November.

Dave, your review is really detailed ne, to the point of Takanobu's keyboard. I must say I've not paid much attention to him except for ZERO. this is not the first time that some music fans are disappointed about the age restriction of Commodore Ballroom.
last year or few years ago,
when guitar legend Joe Satriani came to Vancouver,he performed in Commodore Ballroom, and many fans have complained for this as they could not go to the concert because they were minors.
my friend in Hawaii said he once went to a Rock concert in a bar,the rock band has had many foul languages in their songs, and yet the security guards just let the kids went in as they went with their parents, those kids were like 10 years old or something

I think stamping the hands so they know who's underage is one way though. But I totally agree with M: Who drinks at a B'z concert?! I'm lucky living here and being able to join the club. I didn't for a long time for various reasons.....One:there aren't many blondes who attend a B'z concert in Japan!! LOL I wish they would open up B'z Party to fans in foreign countries, similar to the way the Bon Jovi fan club is set up. I'm still hoping for you.......
P.S. Please don't attack Matsumoto-san! There are no other possible members who could fill either of their shoes!!!!!

no word yet M, but I am in the same situation. and if Benny can't get in with his dad, then I am doubtful I could get in with Angel...well, maybe we can try reasoning with these people? when I went to a 21+ concert, they put a huge XX on each hand to show I was a minor. I also went with my friend and his dad. and it was also a royal pain to get the venue to do this, so maybe we just need to prod them a LOT. I'm not gonna give up easily on this!

The age restriction really doesn't make sense...I mean, who's going to be drinking alcohol at a B'z concert?? B2, what was your solution for the Vancouver concert?

Yes, B2. That's the idea. I was thinking of shadowing Tak. Knowing the guy, he won't be able to resist a drink at a local bar. We'll jump him in the alley. After that, we can dump at East Hastings. At least Tak can nurse the bumps on his head with some street hotties. *cough*

K-3, dou itashimashite. About putting translation alongside, i thought about it before. But the lyrics page will open in the centre frame, there's too little space left and the lyrics will be hard to read. Anyway I tried this for the best lyrics section already, I hope it's not too hard on the eyes. It's definitely nicer to have it alongside though, if we can manage.
Fanboys are evil. No wonder Tak and Koshi are scared of you (they might be). If you put on some mini-skirt that shows you've got legs up to your neck, sumptin' like that, Tak might give you the les paul for free =p
Benny, that's really too bad. Can't you consider getting your Dad to drive you to Seattle? I heard it's not so far away. The thing is for you to sell the Vancouver ticket though. I hope something will work out for you soon. I also think the age restriction thing stinks.

Last year some fans had the same problem in LA & San Diego because of age restrictions. I really feel sorry for you. I know how disappointed you are. The first few years before I joined the Fan Club here in Japan, I tried to get tickets when they went on sale for the general public. I called for hours, and when I finally got through, I was told they were sold out. The night of the concert I was working but kept looking at the clock wishing I were at the concert. Although we can mail B'z with suggestions, etc. I doubt that all the mail gets read. But it would be nice in the future if the management would consider that younger fans are being left out when they choose a venue which has age restrictions. Is there anything your Dad could do? In any case, I understand your feeling and I hope you get to see them eventually.....

I am very disappointed
of all the venues B'z will perform during this North American tour, only Vancouver's Commodore Ballroom is for no minors and requires government ID (I have heard that they check twice, once before enter and once after)
all other venues B'z will perform in are for all ages,
why is Vancouver's Commodre Ballroom the only exception?
I've called Commodore Ballrom and asked can I enter if my father is going with me (because he was going,he was the one who bought the ticket,I want to bring him there to change his view of Rock music and have fun because he has never been to any concerts before,me either)
and the guy said 'no'
why is the rule so strict?
why don't they instead make sure people under 19 are not drinking alchohol?
B'z is not a violent band
when I found out that I can not go to the concert,I felt very sad and angry for the whole day or two, still not feeling good now,I thought I could go see my idols together with my father and have a great time,I was looking forward to it,I was really really really happy when we finally bought the tickets.
I am a true admirer of B'z,especially of Tak Matsumoto as I am a guitarist myself.
I am very disappointed of not having a chance to see my idol,
I do not know if B'z will ever come to Vancouver again, I hope they will come again next year,
I really really really want to see B'z!!!
