Quote of the moment: Concert DVD's
Sent: 17.23 - 5/11
It is truly a blessing to be able to view these DVD's...when B2 came to town with A Beautiful Reel, I was so amazed at the quality of the video and the production.
Compare that to the Yngwie Malmsteen "offical" tour DVD from Japan...B'z has TRULY spoiled this fan...Yngwie's DVD is GOD-awful...
Also...sorry there B2, but the Dream Theater one is just as bad...professional concert footage should not look like a bad acid trip gone bad...Petrucci's a great guitarist, but man...it was just plain awful...LOL
So...short story point...GET those DVD's they are worth ever bloody penny!

I've uploaded the full-listing of 17 songs in Tak's new album. Otanoshimiiii! Tak sings two songs btw o__0
Yeah, WcB, so far all the dvds have been all region, gotta buy some of those! Worth every penny as everyone here will be happy to testify.
Btw, ROCK man, funny you should mention old tours. Last nite, I just read bewith from around the time before Yokohama dvd was released. Apparently they asked the fans what kind of dvd they want next. So most of them sensibly demanded a full-uncut-concert dvd. Tak was like, Ok, soro soro sonna toki kana...? Most of the replies also said they wanna see tours like Survive, Fireball, Spirit Loose and so on. Tak was like yeah, it'd be great to release those too, but now it's Yokohama Brotherhood time.
Well, could it be they have recaps of previous tours in one of those 3 dvds? After all, it's 15th anniversary dvd! I hope it's not only a rumor (>.<)

Nice! Thanks for the heads-up, Keen. While they're at it, think they'll release the old tours? 7th Blues, Loose, etc. What I wouldn't give to see Tak while he's doing the outro from kimi wo tsurete...

I hope for full concert non-stop, with a documentary on 2nd disc and 3rd is the Banzai livegym! HOPEFULLY.

Oh, Dino... I have that Kimi Wo Tsurete's solo listed in my best Tak's solo =p Yes, I remember how surprising it was to find such long and amazing solo at the end of the album! It was 0____o sugeeee!
Name: B2
Sent: 08.02 - 31/10
that solo is really awesome! I remember the first time I noticed its awesomeness, I was drifting off to sleep, but suddenly awoke to hearing...you know what! the little piano bit after that is a nice end to the song, and album. nice contrast to the solo as well. and as I've always said, aside from Brotherhood, Friends 2 has some of Tak's best guitar work! there's a lot of variety, guitar-wise, in that mini-album.
Kimi wo Tsurete has always reminded me of Drive to my World, mostly because they are both rather subdued album-closers, and both have awesome outro-solos.

I want to listen to Inaba sing Jyuri's song "Katte ni Shiagare". I remember watching Jyuri sing some song about Humphrey Bogart's days being grand... I think the CD sales thing is questionable. On the one hand, hard rock is definitely "in" in the US. Bands like Staind, Trapt, and Foo Fighters are big sellers. Also, the medium type Pop/Rock is popular Three Doors Down, Matchbox 20, and even The White Stripes are amazing.
B'z would have to use some of that American sound...and that hard sound to get in, I think. Promote them as the music gods they are, heck, bring Aerosmith into the picture with them. Collaborations can make unknowns into big stars!
And thus ends my rambling expectation of B'z in the US market... XD

LOL, looks like the rumored HUGE-name artist to appear in Tak's new album is *drum sound* TAK himself! He's gonna sing one song out of the confirmed 17 tracks. O Tak, babee, I can't wait! Of course there's also Koshi's "Katen Ni Shagare". I hope for nose-bleeding sexy-vocalness in this one.

but Dave, Hakanai doesn't have tapping! remember when I was shocked to find this out at the show? and Tak has made quite a trademark out of that tapping+slide. you don't hear so many other people using it as often as he does, and he certainly makes it sound good!
also, Yngwie occasionally uses tapping. definitely not as often as many other shredders, but it isn't so uncommon for him to do it.

Sent: 04.33 - 29/10
The technique that Tak uses on Love is Dead is what is reffered to as two-handed tapping. It consists of on hand holding a note with the left hand, and hammering on a higher note, while the right hand taps at a higher note, relative to the one being played.
Eddie Van Halen was the originator for this technique, and since then, every major rock artist out there, with the exception of Yngwie Malmsteen or Eric Clapton uses this technique in some capacity.
Tak's rarity when using this technique is probably due to the fact that he no longer uses a Yamaha, which has a thinner neck than his Gibson. The majority of artists who use this mainly like to use a guitar with a flatter, thinner neck, say like B2's Ibanez, or my OLP Musicman rip off (when I sitll had it). In my own playing, for years I used this technique to great effect.
Also when it comes to Tak...the few songs that he uses the technique, it is to advance the scale that he is playing...Love is Dead has such an amazing scale, that he only expounds upon it for flavor in the song. Believin' You from Knockin' "T" Around has probably one of the nicest incarnations of this technique he has used. He's fluid, graceful, and makes such a beautiful statement. In songs like Gekkou, where there is that 3 stage slur before the end of the solo, he is hammering on, sliding up and down, and pulling off on the original note...with a great, sensitive amp setup, this is a beautiful technique...and one of my personal favorites.

lemme see if I can get all the lessons in guitar-words from B2-sensei correct. I see Tak did the combo-moves! As if he's playing keyboard or something. But then again the solo doesn't feel as heavy as the cd one, probably becoz of the tons of light and fast notes replacing the volume-swelling instead? =p kekeke, don't stomp me flat under your feet, guitar boys. I'm appreciating Tak with all effort here. But I hardly see him do that move, the combo? Except for TIME solo, but that's only one or two notes.

but Love is Dead. oh my GOD. that completely makes up for the Motel tragedy! that's about as perfect of a B'z performance as you can get!!! Tak's solo was flawless, Koshi sounded great and all of his screams were spot-on. and how about that little bass and guitar ditty! and Dave, that cool Shane fill I was telling you about is right at 4:55.

That's the address again, just to be sure. At the bottom of the graphic/news section, there is a line of choices. i.e. Main, Profile, Chronology, etc. You want to mouse-hover multimedia, click streaming when it comes up. Then you'll be taken to the proper page. If you have a download manager installed, e.g. Download Accelerator Plus, then it'll automatically download the clip. If you don't, I suspect Windows Media Player will just pop up and play. I'm not sure since I have DAP installed. Hope that helps.

That list is choke-full of athletes, politician, actors and singers. On Koshi, it mentions how he has license to teach... how B'z has 31 consecutive #1 singles... how he earned, get this, 540,540,000 yen last year. Ok, I don't even know if I got the zeros correct. Becoz according to currency it's equivalent to US$4.9 mill. Does that sound possible? I guess it does. DAMN, Koshi is RICH! If I miss one zero, that means he earned US$49 mill last year alone. I guess that is also possible. I mean didn't Tamashii give us link to a page that mentioned how B'z donated some million dollars during Kobe earthquake or something? Since Banzai has officially ended last night, I'd like to start gathering the reports for:
- Las Vegas
- Los Angeles, day 1 and 2
- San Francisco, day 1 and 2
- Seattle
- Vancouver
Those of you who have written the reports, would you reply to this post if you're willing to contribute yours? Also if you'd like to do any editing, this is a great time. You can choose to e-mail me or M or post it in this board (at NP).
If you haven't written one and you've been to the concerts, this is definitely a great time to start.
