Holy goodness, I really really like this BANZAI song. For 3:50 min length, it packs so much twists and surprises that make me go WHOAH! It's as surprising as hearing Atsuki Kodou for the first time. The drumming keeps changing, so great right to the ending.

thanks a lot, maiyeng! I'm quite liking this Banzai. it may have an Arakure feel to it, but some riffs and chord changes are pretty fresh. cool break there for the harmonized solo, but I was hoping for a regular solo to complement it. I'd say this song is a good sign of things to come!

I'm a big fand of The Darkness. The only thing some might find to be a detractor is that basically every song (other than I Believe in a Thing Called Love) drops the F-Bomb......multiple times. The music is good...dangerously catchy, but somehow seems modern, although it is the definition of classic rock.
Best moment of I Believe in a Thing Called Love: After the second chorus, when he yells "Guitar!" Hahahah!

The Darkness is a new band,that album was their debut album,they play some kinda 70s and 80s hard rock stuff,funny but serious band,they look funny and sound funny,some people don't like the tone of the vocal and some people like it,he sometimes sings like operah..check out their video and song 'I believe in a thing called love'..the vocal goes like 'touching youuuuuuuuu,touching meeeeeeeeee'..he tries to sound like Freddy Mercury...
they are not the typical mean looking rock/metal bands you see on TV..they actually make people laugh,their look,things they do,just hilarious
despite some people dislike the vocal
I think it is one of the best rock albums of year 2003

That's Tak's new sig model...while it is smaller, more rounded...it looks like the body is a little thinner and more resonant...that AAA figured Maple doesn't hurt either.

To answer to Dino's review vignette, Eric Martin, while a good singer... does write some sad...sad...lyrics... that was the weakness of Mr. Big IMO... but he has a great vocal range, and could hit some of the notes that Kohshi sings... if he say castrated himself... ^_~

Yes, Trapped is growing on me. I've been listeing to the CD in my car almost non-stop these days. Tak gets a little more loose on Trapped. Was reading that Tak guitar book and was a little surprised to find out that the Zebra MG-M wasn't retired yet. Thought that Hakanai Riff sounded so huge it must have been a Les Paul!!

ahh, Dino, my thoughts exactly! chunkier guitar, indeed. it's nice to know Tak is willing to try some new things. the lyrics weren't too appealing to me, either, and I think "corny" is the word I was looking for. if you've heard the Hear N' Aid thing from the 80s, with all the hair metal singers in it, you'll know what I mean.
Trapped gets me going a little more, and I must give propz to that scream again. the chorus has been stuck in my head lately, along with the whoah-whoah-ing at the end. I think the rest of the album should be pretty satisfying, but I hope Tak goes for more flair in his solos and riffs!

Maybe it's just my imagination but Tak's tone got better on oh japan. Sounds bigger in rhythm but the solo is a little too chorusy? Overall, a nice rock song except the suckazz vocal. maybe not that bad but i just don't know what to make of that guy. Certainly not the azz-kicking front-man IMO visual or musical. Oh and uninspiring lyrics--rather corny for my taste. No offence. Trapped is OK. It's kinda amazing how Tak can turn simple single notes playing into cool intro and seemingly familiar vocal melodies fit nicely into the song. I guess that's talent. Tak's playing is so straight rock on this one. Only if he could have hired Axl Rose.....keke wouldn't that be something?
And add Sting on bass and Phil Collins on drums...now that's a super group. only drawback is they all have to hog the mike...

My mistake!!!! I watched the Hey!x3 show once again and listened super carefully this time! Sorry! The announcer said that Eric Martin had been delayed and only Jack Blades (bassist) would sing! As I had never seen any of them before, I had no idea who was who! Gomen nasai........... His voice is very similar to Eric Martin's who appeared on MS and is the lead singer.

Sorry....I accidentally pushed the button as I was correcting my post!! I wanted to say I know there are 3 non-Japanese who worked with Matsumoto-san on the new single. In any case, the lead singer was different each night and it has me a bit puzzled.
Each performer was asked what other singer or groups he listens to when he starts something new. Matsumoto-san chose SPEED and some other singer I didn't know.
Other performers mentioned B'z a couple of times as one of their choices.

TMG appeared on the MS Spring Special last night. If anyone else saw it and was as puzzled as me pls. post. When I saw HEY!x3 on Monday the lead singer (also playing bass) was introduced as Eric Martin. Only he, Matsumoto-san and the drummer were on. But last night there were 4. (I know there are 3 on the single.) But the lead singer was not Eric Martin. He only played bass and sang the chorus. The lead singer was a completely different guy!

I finally heard the full Oh Japan. I really like the intro (the Tak rappin'!!), the melody and all the guitaringz. According to B2, I must open my mind and clear my ears and listen objectively. So I tried as best as I could. So here's my opinion: Eric sounds okay. He's interesting, strong at some points, but in some parts he can't be heard clearly and when he gets to last chorus, my interest was gone already. The way he sings all the chorus is almost the same. So it gets kinda boring a bit. Tak's mad skills keep me awake though. Luckily, the ending brought my attention back when all the instruments became quiet and all you hear is him singing that nice melodious verse. So to cut it short, I think he's just OKAY. And it's my humble objective opinion. I hope no one is offended nee!

Koshi is scheduled to perform on the 2nd day of the upcoming "POCARI SWEAT BLUE WAVE THE ROCK ODYSSEY 2004" two-days concert that features Aerosmith, Lenny Kravits, The WHO, Laruku, etc. Ticket price 14,000yen.

Matsumoto-san & TMG just appeared on Hey!x3 They weren't in the studio but rather on top of some building in Yokohama. The hosts asked why Matsumoto-san looked as if he were in a bad mood, but he assured them he was fine. More than likely he was a bit worried as it was TMG's first public appearance. When asked if he would come back with B'z and appear in the studio, he replied, "Hai". TMG gave a great performance. Eric Martin's voice was strong and clear. I'm not a guitar expert but for me Matsumoto-san was fantastic. He could never disappoint his fans.

yup, George, i agree it's a great single ^_^ the 2nd beat "trapped" is nice too *don't stop, dont' stop, no* "oh japan~" i love especially the beginning part, very japanese =) even the karaoke versions are not bad too. btw, both songs are programmed by toku-chan ^.^ ah! the special content is actually a screensaver, showing the many guitars tak has, with the day's date+time ;)
